Brieanne Beaujolais

Brieanne Beaujolais

Brieanne’s research focuses on gender-based violence (GBV) and family violence prevention, intervention, and access to services that promote empowerment and improve health outcomes for survivors, particularly those who are most vulnerable. Her research trajectory integrates a focus on three areas: (a) strengthening evaluation strategies for sexual violence prevention programs; (b) improving quality of and increasing access to trauma-informed services for survivors of family violence and/or GBV; and (c) understanding the effect of GBV-related intervention components, and particularly empowerment self-defense, on participant outcomes. Given that violence is both a human rights and public health issue, her research has significant implications for both social work and public health by informing policy and practice recommendations related to violence prevention and recovery for survivors.
