Alvalyn Dixon-Gardner

Uwe Wernekinck

Alvalyn graduated from Tufts University in May 2024 with a B.S. in Clinical Psychology. Her previous research focused on misrepresentation and erasure in children's media, specifically examining its effects on adolescents' social and emotional well-being. This experience has reshaped her research approach, leading her to pursue more equitable mixed-methods studies for historically marginalized adolescents and communities through the frameworks of liberation, cultural, and critical psychology. Alvalyn aspires to pursue a graduate degree in Clinical Psychology to further investigate resiliency in adolescents who have experienced maltreatment, with a particular focus on the impacts of physical and sexual abuse on youth from underrepresented backgrounds and their development of resilience.
